Here at Net3 IT, a leading IT company in Knoxville, Tenn., we are one big family and our customers are just an extension of that family. We wanted to do something creative to give you the chance to get to know our team better so we are introducing a series of getting-to-know-you question-and-answer blogs featuring each team member.

Let’s start with Net3 IT’s Principal and Technical Director Jeff Scott. Principal and Technical Director. What does that even mean? To Jeff, it means getting to help others. When asked about the responsibilities of his role, Jeff said, “Whatever is needed.” It sounds like a Principal and Technical Director wears many hats! Jeff’s many hats span across all aspects of this Knoxville IT company, from sales to the help desk to accounting to vision to direction and on to being a project manager or technical lead. It almost sounds like Superman works at Net3 IT — which is ironic because Jeff said if he could have any superpower, he would choose flying!

Let’s get to know Jeff a little bit better!

Q. What’s something about you that might surprise people?
A. I love wakeboarding and the first time I jumped a wake I was 46 years old. I also parachuted out of an airplane when I was 50.

Q. What’s something you know more about than most people?
A. Information technology, of course. It is the automation of business processes using software, hardware, communications, and personal relationships. My favorite part is solving problems and the tougher they are, the better.

Q. What is one of your favorite places that you’ve traveled to? Why?
A. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. It is the Grand Canyon of China. It just looks like toothpicks God threw down. They had a cable car you could take up to the top and walk around on one. It was so cool to see how God designed that.

Q. What is your favorite movie? Favorite book? Favorite artist/band?
A. The Man From Snowy River is my favorite movie. My favorite book is the Bible but I also really love How to Speak Southern. There are several volumes if you’re interested. My favorite band is the Scott brothers, I love to listen and play with my brothers.

Q. If you could have dinner with one person (living or dead), who would it be?
A. My wife.

Q. What’s something you’re passionate about?
A. Helping others.

Q. What’s something you would tell yourself 10 years ago?
A. Take risks earlier in life.

Q. If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be?
A. Spanish.

Q. What are your personal hobbies?
A. I love to work with wood, rebuild cars with my son, or play music.

Q. Who inspires you?
A. My dad. He taught me how to take tough situations and calmly approach them. He taught me humility and how to handle success. He was a very humble man and incredibly Christ-centered.

Q. If you could have any superpower, which would you choose?
A. Flying.

Q. What are two things on your bucket list?
A. I want to teach technology in a foreign country for a missions organization and I want to have grandkids!
